Church and Society Programme

Working for a just and peaceful society that respects human rights

Church and Society Programme (CSP) is the advocacy and civic education arm of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia on human rights, governance, democracy and peace-building and other crosscutting issues like HIV and AIDS, gender and climate change.

About Us

Faith in Action. Justice in Practice.

Church and Society Programme (CSP) is the advocacy, governance and civic engagement arm of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, committed to promoting human rights, democratic governance, peacebuilding, environmental justice, gender equality and resilient communities across Malawi.

Since its establishment in 1999, the Church and Society Programme has worked alongside communities, churches, government institutions and development partners to strengthen democracy, protect human rights and empower vulnerable communities.

Grounded in Christian values and evidence-based advocacy, CSP believes every person deserves dignity, justice and equal opportunity.

Our Works

Our Focus Areas

The various projects of Church & Society are structured around four focus areas: Access to Justice; Accountable Democracy; Equality and Empowerment; and Climate Resilience. This is led by our current Strategic Plan. You can learn more about each focus area and the projects that contribute to their success by following the links below.

Accountable Democracy

We strengthen democratic governance by promoting transparency, accountability, and active citizen participation.

Access to Justice

We work to ensure that every individual, especially vulnerable and marginalized communities, can access justice and exercise their rights. By raising legal awareness, supporting community-based justice mechanisms, and advocating for equitable policies, we contribute to a more just and inclusive society.

Equality and Empowerment

We promote equal opportunities for women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups by strengthening their capacity to participate in decision-making and community development.

Climate Resilience

We help communities build resilience to the impacts of climate change through sustainable natural resource management, environmental conservation, climate-smart livelihoods, and disaster risk reduction

We Are Open For Volunteers!

Join our team of dedicated volunteers and use your time, skills, and experience to support communities across Malawi.

Our Strategic Focus

Our work is driven by a commitment to addressing the root causes of inequality, injustice, and poverty while empowering communities to become active participants in their own development. Through advocacy, capacity building, research, and strategic partnerships, we implement programmes that promote human dignity, accountable governance, environmental stewardship, and sustainable livelihoods across Malawi.
